There are so many to choose from depending on personal preference and again the first port of call should be the tourist information office and local advertising. During the year most villages hold a variety of festivals and you will be very unlucky if you cannot find one during your stay – the best are those with an open air feast followed by fireworks.

Local Breton culture and folklore abounds and traditional entertainments constantly crop up. Religion plays a big part in Brittany especially the further west you go and pardons (relgious parades) are colourful and sometimes moving occasions followed by the imbibing of vast quantities of cider and dancing. The impressive traditional dancing is not such a feature any more though it can still be seen in July at Quimper at the Abadenn Veur. .

Most pardons are held during the afternoon but the one at Guingamp takes place at night. Unfortunately the traditional pardon season is mostly in the winter months.
